About Glendora

History

Glendora is a city in the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles County, 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. As of the 2020 census, the population of Glendora was 52,558.

Like many cities in the San Gabriel Valley, Glendora was established on previously remote agricultural land during the Southern California real estate boom of the 1880s. Real estate values in the area rose especially quickly in anticipation of the completion of the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley Railroad in May 1887 which connected the area to Los Angeles and the national rail network. In the late 1880s, fierce competition between Santa Fe and rival railroads like Southern Pacific triggered
